Cheesecake Fruit Dip (Naturally Sweet)

↓ Jump to Recipe

A fruit dip platter is one of my favorite high-impact, low-effort appetizers for holidays and parties. This four-ingredient cheesecake dip is creamy and tangy and balanced. No powdered sugar, no marshmallow fluff, with just enough sweetness to complement your fruit instead of overpowering it.

Why This Dip Works (For Your Taste Buds and Blood Sugar)

My Grammy always had fruit dip at our family parties and I wanted to bring back the tradition. When I started paying attention to blood sugar, I realized most fruit dip recipes (including hers) are basically frosting. Powdered sugar, marshmallow fluff, sweetened condensed milk are popular ingredients.

The truth is, fruit is already sweet, and it's one of the best sources of fiber out there. A good dip should support that, not bury it. So I made some modifications in support of flavor and blood sugar balance.

Whole Milk Greek Yogurt for Protein. Blending cream cheese with Greek yogurt not only makes this dip extra creamy and tangy (like cheesecake) but adds in a nice protein boost. Full fat also helps to curb the glucose impact from the natural sugars.

Preserves for a Touch of Sweetness. Instead of relying on powdered sugar or other highly refined ingredients, I use fruit preserves (brands like Crofters keep things all natural). Apricot is my personal go-to, but this is also where you can have fun and get creative with flavor.

A Dash of Cinnamon. Not just for flavor! Cinnamon is anti-inflammatory and has been shown to help with glucose metabolism. A little goes a long way.

The result is a dip that tastes indulgent but won't send you on a blood sugar rollercoaster an hour after the party starts.

What to Include in a Fruit Platter

Any fresh fruit is a great accompaniment to my cheesecake fruit dip. Seasonal fruits are especially fun to include. You can see I opted for:

  • Granny Smith apple slices
  • Honeycrisp apple slices
  • Concord Grapes
  • Raspberries and Strawberries

I also included whole grain crackers or you could also pair my homemade flax crackers for an added fiber boost.

How to Prevent Sliced Fruit From Turning Brown

Hot tip from a food stylist! Apples and pears will start to turn brown once they're sliced and exposed to the air (aka: oxidation). The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to toss sliced fruit in a bowl with a tablespoon of lemon juice. This also adds a nice 'zing' to the fruit, which I personally enjoy.

Make Ahead Instructions

This dip keeps beautifully in the refrigerator for up to a week, so feel free to make it a day or two before your party. Just cover it tightly with plastic wrap and give it a quick stir before serving. Slice your fruit the morning of (toss apples and pears in lemon juice to prevent browning) and you're set.
